Rukia accompanied several other Shinigami to Karakura Town to act as a defense against any potential attacks by Aizen or his forces. Upon her arrival, she berated Ichigo for his low self-esteem and helped him get his spirits back. She was then introduced to Ben Tennyson, and became annoyed when Rangiku Matsumoto grabbed the hero and squished his head between her ample breasts after he turned into Ditto by accident. She set up residence at Ichigo's house after giving his family an overly dramatic sob story that only Ichigo did not fall for.
Night Attack[]
When Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez and his Fraccion assaulted Karakura Town to weed out anyone who was spiritually aware, Rukia immediately leapt into the conflict, leaving her gigai under he control of the hyperactive Chappy, whom she ordered to keep Ichigo from getting involved. After killing Di Roy Rinker, she regrouped with Ichigo, who had been freed from Chappy's grip by Snare-oh. Suddenly, Grimmjow appeared and incapacitated Rukia by thrusting his fist through her abdomen. After Grimmjow was forced to return to Las Noches, Rukia was healed by Orihime Inoue. Ichigo blamed himself for Rukia's injuries and near-death experience, but she insisted that it was not his fault.
