"Testing" Ichigo & Meeting BenEdit
On Aizen's orders, Ulquiorra traveled to Karakura Town with fellow Espada Yammy Llargo to "test" Ichigo Kurosaki and see if the latter posed a threat to Aizen's plans. Ichigo overpowered Yammy, but a brief conflict with his Inner Hollow allowed Yammy to launch a counterattack. A seemingly harmless human boy arrived out of nowhere, and Ulquiorra initially dismissed him as "trash", but he was quite surprised when the boy suddenly transformed into a diamond-like golem and overpowered the equally surprised Yammy. After Kisuke Urahara and Yoruichi Shihōin arrived to further aid Ichigo, Ulquiorra decided to retreat, claiming that Ichigo was weak and did not pose a threat to Aizen, though he admitted he was curious about Ben's powers.
Returning to Las Noches with an injured Yammy, Ulquiorra reported the events to Aizen and his fellow Arrancar by pulling his left eye out of its socket and crushing it, allowing them to observe the events that took place. Eon then came forward and explained that the shape-shifter was a human from another dimension named Ben Tennyson, and that he had likely been sent by Professor Paradox to aid Aizen's enemies. After Eon went into further detail about Ben's origins, Ulquiorra asked why Eon had not informed them sooner, but Eon said he had not expected Ben's interference.
Ulquiorra believed that Ichigo would not pose a threat in the future, and that he might actually be useful to Aizen's plans at some point, but Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez, the Sexta (Sixth) Espada, insisted that Ben and Ichigo could pose a grave threat in the future and needed to be dealt with immediately. Ulquiorra ignored him and stood by his claim, which Aizen agreed with, much to Grimmjow's fury.
On Aizen's orders, Ulquiorra abducts Orihime Inoue, with several other Arrancar attacking Karakura Town in order to provide a diversion. Ulquiorra succeeds in abducting Orihime, then calls off the attack, personally stopping Grimmjow, before leaving with his comrades.
